Ysolde was a bannerless knight’s daughter during the early crusading period, trained to ride and fight but denied a future by birth. She went to war in male guise and met her Embrace in the bloodied snows outside Nicaea. She returned to Aquitaine changed—by the Beast, by pain, and by visions of saints that spoke of rivers running red.
Now Ysolde haunts the barracks, mustering yards, and noble estates of lesser chevaliers. She has Ayr the Anvil’s trust, acting as a go-between for the city’s Lasombra-led Kindred and the fractious minor lords whose swords the Duchy relies on. Though noble-blooded, she disdains courtly life. Her loyalty is to oaths, not etiquette.
