Appearance
Sister Maëlys appears fragile as a confession and quiet as snowfall. She wears a patched gray habit that falls too loosely around her slender frame, its cloth faded from ash and age. Her sleeves are often dusted with candle wax, charcoal smudges, or drying herbs, as if she’s just come from a ritual no one else witnessed.
Her face is angular, almost foxlike, with wide, pale eyes that rarely focus on what’s physically in front of her. One is a soft gray-blue, while the other has gone nearly milky white from a trauma she never speaks of. A faint scar arcs across the top of her cheekbone like a half-finished sigil.
Her hair is dark chestnut, long but never combed. It’s braided with bits of thread, rosary beads, and what appear to be fragments of bone and faded ribbon — things given to her by patients in the monastery who believe she grants comfort or absolution.
Her skin is cool and chalk-pale, marked by veins like silver quills along her neck and hands. Her fingers are long and fine, always in motion — counting prayers, tracing sigils in the air, or brushing the edge of invisible things only she can see.
