Brother Petras is a distortion of monastic form, cloaked in the remnants of a tattered Benedictine habit that hangs in decayed layers, perpetually damp from the tunnel humidity. His flesh appears blistered and cratered, like wax too long near flame, with translucent gray skin drawn tight across a warped skull. The bones of his face protrude unevenly, suggesting some half-finished sculpture abandoned mid-carving.
His eyes are hollow pits veiled with a soft, constant weeping of black ichor, as if mourning all he sees. His mouth, always just slightly open, reveals thin, sharp teeth twisted sideways in a manner that makes speech sibilant and eerie.
From his neck dangles a crude, iron medallion: a broken solar disc eclipsed by a crescent moon. Tied around his wrists and ankles are ragged cords, stained with blood and ash, used in penance rituals. Across his left hand is a tattoo in flaking ink: a labyrinthine symbol.
Despite his grotesque form, he carries a ritualistic gravity that feels oddly sacred. Those who see him emerging from the shadowy bowels of the city are often stricken with awe or terror, as though theyβve witnessed a walking plague omen or a fallen prophet returned.
