Lord Alaric is the velvet glove encasing the city’s iron hand. The Prince may give proclamations, but it is Alaric who sees them enacted, interpreted, or quietly set aside. Elegant, ruthless, and always immaculately courteous, he maintains the fiction of subservience while controlling much of the court’s true machinery. He holds the schedules, the permissions, the keys—he knows whose feeding territory has quietly been reassigned and who has secretly been granted safe passage.
He does not raise his voice. He does not need to.
🎩 Appearance
Tall and thin, with silver hair brushed back like polished steel, Lord Alaric always wears the height of 12th-century noble fashion. His doublet is deep blue velvet, cut high at the collar, with subtle gold embroidery that hints at Byzantine or even Moorish influence. His cloak is lined in dark fur, possibly sable or marten, clasped with a golden brooch in the shape of a lion’s head—subtle Ventrue symbolism. He wears black gloves of doeskin and a sword he has not drawn in decades.
